Mexico

Hola, amigos - here it is, the long overdue Mexico post.  Yes, we took the baby to the Land of Swine Flu and Drug Wars, despite the admonishments of the pediatrician and the cabbie who took us to the airport.  NOT that I asked.

Actually, Puerto Vallarta is very safe, with no cases of Flu, and a population so helpful and honest that when my mother left her purse in the back of a cab, the cabbie BROUGHT IT BACK to us later that day.  The economy there is very dependent on tourism, and as much as we enjoyed having the city and beaches to ourselves, never waiting for a table, and getting a tremendous deal on our villa rental, I hope things pick back up soon.  The people there are worried, bookings are down, and shops and restaurants are closing.  So come on to Jalisco - the exchange rate is great, everyone's friendly, and it's beautiful!

OK, I'm done shilling for the Mexican Tourist Council -on to the photos (lots of 'em)
Here's Baby's First Margarita!

I took a nap on our balcony one afternoon, and woke up to THIS:

What did we do?  Well, there was lounging on the beach -

Lots of swimming, of course.  Our villa had it's own little pool, right off the living room, and Brennan swam every day.

We went out to eat a few places, and Brennan was very good.  He flirted with the staff and other diners, and sampled some local cuisine - mostly avocado and plain tortillas - but he seemed to really enjoy being included in mealtimes.  He also really enjoyed turning sideways & backwards in the high chairs.

Sometimes, we just sat quietly and thought about things.

Every night before dinner was served, we had cocktail hour.  Here we are on the last night, trying to pretend we're not sick to death of chips and guacamole.  We'd already given up on margaritas.

It was a great trip to a beautiful place, and we're looking forward to coming back again and again as Brennan grows up.
