And, we're back!

It's been a busy month - between my trip to Atlanta to get my house in shape for new tenants and moving into a new apartment here, I feel like I've spent the past month packing, cleaning, and painting, with a few brief breaks for work. Now that I've located the camera, though, I see it hasn't been all drudgery. We walked over to the Randall Museum to play with the earthquake legos, admire the ducks, and push our new train around the miniature San Francisco. Bren also surprised me with a new word, when he ran up to the glass bee hive and said, "bees!"

In case it seems like he's getting to be pretty grown up, don't worry. He's still using a binky, and proud of it.

Moving does provide a convenient excuse to eat out - dinner at Zazie, for example. We have a new trick for getting through meals, and getting Brennan to eat - dipping sauce. It started with french fries and ketchup, but he'll try anything. Here he was dipping goldfish crackers in corn chowder. The most disgusting combo so far has been a tuna salad sandwich in some sort creme fraiche fruit dip.

He's a big fan of cars, trucks, trains - anything with wheels and motion - up to a point. We took advantage of a warm and sunny day to journey out to the zoo, as I'd just read about the Little Puffer miniature steam train and thought Brennan would like it. And he did - initially. But toward the end of the first loop, something went wrong, and suddenly we were on the Train of Terror. He cried so much he got the little boy behind us crying.

He made a pretty quick recovery, though, and enjoyed his lunch at Outerlands. They make really excellent sandwich bread, which is his favorite part of any sandwich.

He's staying up a little later these days, and asks for stories during the day as well as bedtime. And he's not just waving a book and whining - sometimes he grabs my pant legs and steers me to the books. It's sort of like when he steals salad, though, I don't really want to discourage him...
