Christmas 2011 & other adventures

Brennan actually gets his stocking on Dec. 6, St. Nicholas Day, thanks to his German heritage and Grandma Lorna - but it tied in with the holiday theme. We're still using all the candy as bribes for good behavior 2 months later.

Daddy & Bren were in charge of bringing home the tree from the nice ex-cons at Delancey St. this year. I think they picked a good one. We put the lights on after Bren went to bed that night, so when he saw it lit up the next day, he said, "It's a surprise!"
Some people like to leave their Christmas tree up until February or so. While I take mine down pretty quick after New Year's Day, I do apparently wait until February to post Christmas photos.

I actually had to be at work 8 am Christmas day, so it was a bit of a whirlwind. Right after Brennan woke up, we asked if he'd like to go open some presents. He replied, "What a wonderful idea!" We assume he gets this stuff at preschool, and isn't reading Dickens or similar when no one is watching.
Lucie Bean loves her goofy rocking horse, although she typically rides for about 17 seconds. At least she will come back to it. Brennan really liked his Mickey Mouse watch for a few minutes, and has expressed no interest in it since.
A nice view of Lucie's shiner, obtained 2/23 after a run-in with a kitchen drawer. I liked to say "you should see the other guy", until the pediatrician commented "you're so relaxed about this" at her check-up the following week, which I interpreted as, "you should be a better/more attentive mother".
She's fine now, for the record.
One of Brennan's "classmates" has a mommy who works at the new Children's Creativity Museum in San Francisco, so we got to go on a (free!) field trip to check it out. I think Brennan and I share the same review of the place -
Noodle and soft block room, lots of fun. Chick with guitar singing songs about fast and slow felt fish, not as much.
We also invited cousin Ian out to see the little trains at the Flower Conservatory one Sunday. Not quite as cool as last year - no Thomas sightings, unfortunately - but still a pretty good time. Especially when you can coax two little boys into a "Funland at the Beach" photo op -
