Wild West Wedding Bells

Big news - Uncle Gavin got married on Labor Day!  We first met Aunt Amy in March last year.  We didn't know then she was going to be Aunt Amy, but had a pretty strong suspicion, since Uncle Gavin had never brought any other girls to visit, um, EVER.

We decided to spend a week in Colorado, so we could catch up with Audrey & Grace.  They showed us all the Boulder hot spots, which for the 6-and-under set, seem to involve water parks and cupcakes.

I have to admit, as far as water parks go, this one was pretty awesome - with a toddler-friendly, walk-in shallow end, fountains and jets, and swivel-mount water guns for Mommy & Brennan to blast each other.  The only thing that would have made it better would be if the cafe (aka, wine delivery for Daddy, Mommy, & Suzie) had been open.
We had a great time in Boulder - summer weather, good friends, and two nights (!!) of babysitting and adults-only restaurant dinners.  We would have loved to stay longer, but we had an important appointment in Breckenridge.  Off to the mountains we went -

It was a lovely spot for a wedding, and everything went off without a hitch!
Even if the oxygen was a little sparse up there at 10 Mile Station:

Amy even arranged for a rainbow!
OK, that was a joke.  The wedding plan had some very specific, tightly scheduled time blocks, so we pretended that it was there on the plan at 4:45 - "cue rainbow".

Brennan & Lucie enjoyed meeting Mommy's gazillion relatives, and were on their very best behavior, especially when Lucie refused to wear her cowboy boots in a bar and ran around until her feet were black, and when Brennan asked if he could pee off the 4th floor balcony of my uncle's suite.  (I'll refuse to report the outcome of that one, on the grounds that I may want to return to Breckenridge someday)  And it's always fun to play with Grandpa & Gangi!

Even though they didn't attend the wedding (They never would have sat through all the groomsmen's toasts, anyway.  Daddy barely did.), they did get to enjoy the spoils the next day.  I managed to squirrel away wedding cupcakes, which was all they would have been interested in.  I was not expecting the hands-free eating technique, however:

Guess who's had SUGAR?!!!
We got to enjoy one more day with our friends in Boulder, which was way nicer than getting up at 4 am to drive down the mountains to Denver International.
There was swinging -
Driving the pink cadillac -

And a trip to the Duke Backyard Drive-In!
But as much as we wanted to stay, there was work and school to get back to, and Roux missed us.  (not really, she was at Pet Camp where she plays with other dogs all day and is never subjected to screeching or hair pulling)  And we were a little tired from all the festivities-
