Summer means County Fair time! Since Brennan & Lucie loved the Marin Fair so much last year, we jumped right on it when our neighbors asked if we wanted to join them at the San Mateo Fair. Luckily we took advantage of free early admission and parking, because I got suckered into the unlimited ride wristbands. And a carnival game to win 2 ugly raccoon stuffies. And cherry lemonade.
And corndogs.
Real camp started for Brennan - he had a week of LEGO robotics at the Presidio Y, and then a week of soccer, way out by Ocean Beach. In other news, my good lens is finally back from Canon, after dying at Lucie's first soccer game back in April. I can catch longer distance action shots again!
Even though "graduation" was on June 3rd, the preschool actually stays open all summer. But Lucie wanted to try camp a little, now that she's old enough, and had a few weeks of travel planned over the 4th, so it seemed silly to stay in preK. (Not to mention the B team teachers take over in July) On June 17th, we celebrated Lucie's last day of preschool:
It seemed cruel to the staff to show up with cupcakes right before nap time, so I went with another one of her favorites: PIZZA! It was a big hit with all the kids - well, until they ate all the cheese pizza. Jacian had a meltdown when he wanted a 3rd slice, and wasn't falling for it when the teacher picked off the pepperoni and tried to present it as cheese.
Next stop - Kindergarten!
Since Lucie wasn't staying for nap time, she also celebrated with a cupcake when we got home.
And just to cap off a very special weekend, we had a very special visitor arrive Sunday - Gangi! She was here for a few days before flying with Brennan & Lucie back to Michigan.
We took her on a field trip to Point Reyes, with a stop for lunch at the Cowgirl Creamery and a short meeting with what we think is Saint Lucy.
It was a pretty nice day in Point Reyes Station, but as we got closer to the ocean, we found more classic summer weather. But Drake's Beach is pretty amazing, even when the skies are grey. Also there's a fine collection of driftwood to drag around.
And we did get pretty amazing sunset back home. But it's time to get to bed, because tomorrow is the big day -
