Growing & Gangi

At her last check up, Lucie's doctor pointed out she'd jumped a couple of bars on the growth chart, going from roughly 50th percentile to 75th - and at the time, I thought, huh, that's interesting, and I guess that's what giving in and switching to formula will do. What I should have thought: time to pull out the baby clothes I put aside while we waited for her to grow into them. Here she is, in the little black coat I bought just before she was born, thinking she'd look adorable in it when she turns one. Not that she doesn't look adorable in it, but by the time she turns one, she's going to look like a sausage in a too-tight casing.
Lucie's adventures in growing and eating have expanded to include mushy fruits and veggies. It was slow going and messy at first, then bananas were introduced. More banana mush proved sufficient incentive to make her a remarkably efficient little eater. So much makes it from spoon to tummy I even feel safe putting on the "good bibs". (A "good bib" is one that is so cute I don't want to get it messy, and, yes, I know how ridiculous that is.)
We haven't been to "jungle gym" (aka, toddlers running amok with plastic riding toys, balls, and a bouncy house) at the YMCA in a while, and I thought Lucie might like practicing her crawling on a soft matt, instead of the usual obstacle course of corners and hard floors at home. Too bad they weren't running the program for the month. So we ran around the park outside the Letterman Center instead.

Brennan & Lucie had a special treat - a nice long visit from Gangi! It was a special treat for me, too - not only was it great to have my mom around, but I got a Weekend Release Pass from the Monkey House. Gangi & Daddy were in charge while I went to Big Sur with some good friends from Atlanta. Everyone seemed in good spirits when I returned, and I think they were better rested. My friends kept me on a grueling wine drinking regimen.

Bren decided posing for a photo should include closing his eyes. After 5 or 6 tries I gave up.

Much better is taking his picture while his attention is elsewhere, like....

HULA HOOP TIME!
